Apple Slices

Crust:
4 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 cups shortening
2 Tbsp. lemon juice
10 Tbsp. water
2 egg yolks

Mix flour, shortening and salt. Beat egg yolks with lemon and water. Add to flour mixture.

Filling:
16-20 apples (cut and quartered)
2 Tbsp. flour
2 cups sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg

Mix all ingredients together.

Divide dough in half. Roll out crust to size of cookie sheet, approximately 11x15. Put in filling, top with remaining crust. Bake at 425* for50 minutes. When cool, frost with thin powdered sugar icing.

This recipe is nice because it tastes like apple pie yet there is plenty to go around!
