From start to finish: 1 hour and 10 minutes.
Makes 12 servings.
1 1/2 lb. bulk pork sausage
1 can (21 oz.) apple pie filling with more fruit
2 medium apples, peeled, chopped. (about 2 cups)
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese (8 oz.)
1 1/2 cups Original Bisquick mix
1 1/2 cups milk
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
- Heat oven to 375*. Spray 13 by 9 inch glass baking dish with cooking spray. In 12 inch skillet, cook sausage over medium-high heat 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thoroughly cooked; drain. Stir in pie filling and apples. Spread mixture evenly in baking dish. Top with 1 cup of the cheese.
- In large bowl, stir Bisquick mix, milk, salt, pepper and eggs with wire whisk or fork until well blended. Pour evenly over cheese.
- Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Top with remaining 1 cup cheese. Bake 3 to 5 minutes longer or until cheese is melted. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
